   OLD MAN is my favorite song off the album. The lyrics are thought provoking and speak mainly of life-changes. Scott left thje band after this album TFP went in a more watered-down direction adapting the same style and sound as the majority of West Coast "pop punk" bands of 5/5(16).

   The album starts with this old road - an allegory for life itself. He describes the transition into old age, and looking back down the road at the person he used to be and looking ahead to the destination. It's surprisingly touching and effective. With the Pilgrim's progress he updates his classic song the Pilgrim/5().

   Richard Simon died quite young in They say it was a heart attack that killed him, but I suspect it was a broken heart caused by several factors more than any physical illness. Carly's mom passed too, at a relatively ripe old age of 84 or 85, but was alive and well when this song was written/5(26).
